CLEAN, FRIENDLY AND HEALTHY ARGUMENT IS GOOD FOR UNDERSTANDING ABOUT ALL RELIGIONS BUT WHEN YOU START SPARING IN A BAD , RACIST AND IDIOTIC MANNER THEN IT BECOMES HORRIBLE.

Some are love to argue and some are for the sake of argument whether they have strong points for debates are not. They all are learning and learning from the mistakes and experience of others is most efficient and inexpensive way of learning.Often people mixed their religion with the politics and fight. However religion's wisdom is different.I would say that look for wisdom in most unlikely source where it is most likely to be found.

The same reason they have debates in schools, to learn. You learn what others think and feel. Religion is a part of culture and an interesting subject no matter what belief you hold. The problem is some people take it too far and get way too sensitive over a question. There is no need to call someone names or put them down for their beliefs.

Because it's something of primary importance in one's life.It determines ur attitude,ur life,ur dealings,ur beliefs.Naturally, all the believers of a particular religion believe they r right and others would like to prove them wrong. That's why people argue over religion. You know, arguing over a religion is not bad,it may get you to truth but criticising one's beliefs rather ridiculing them is unforgivable coz it breeds hatred

Because religion is such a controversial and personal issue for most people and if you want to push someone's buttons (like many people do on Yahoo! Answers), then that's the button to push.

I think its because they are so unsure of what they believe in that they want to know more but instead of asking about it they just debate it, and those peple also they get very defensive over your responses, its more of a personal battle.
