I am from India. South Central India. From a State called Andhra Pradesh. In our State the language mainly spoken is TELUGU. It has its origin in Sanskrit as do many other Indian languages. My mother tongue is Telugu. Many Indians speak 3 languages. English, Hindi, which is the national language and their mother tongue.
In Telugu these are the words:
OK = Sare
Please = Dayachesi
Thank you = Vandanamulu
Good bye = Shubhamu

Kamustaka,
My mothers tongue is Bahasa Melayu (Malay) and salamat is "Terima Kasih" in Malay.
I noticed there are some similarities in our language, for example manok... the word is not a standard Malay though, but its in a local dialect.
Another examples are the word sakit, mahal (expensive) and mura... we say murah!
May be because we are from the same region.
Palaam!
