It can be nice, as long as both parties recognise it for what it is - a one-off display of lust. The morning after can be a bit awkward though! Be safe!!

Assuming you do it safely other unpleasant side-effects can be that the experience can leave you feeling less than you were before it. Depending upon how you approach it, and the reasons for you doing it in the first place.
If you do it to make somebody like you more, and want to be with you more...or you do it because you feel a bit bad about yourself...or for any other negative reason you are probably going to feel lonely afterwards. Giving somebody sex as soon as you meet them is a sure fire way to go about never seeing them again because you have basically given them what they want with minimal effort on their part.
You have to ask yourself why it is that you are choosing to have one night stands- if you indeed choose to do that.
If you are in a positive frame of mind, are safe and are making an informed choice based on nothing other than your wish to have sex with some random person then you might gain something positive from it.
I would encourage anybody who thought of doing it to be careful and to think about why they are doing it, but the fact is most people who choose to have a one night stand are not thinking about what they are doing at all
