Hands down the best way to have rum is to mix it in with chocolate chocolate cupcake mix. You fridge it for two days and it's delicious...Then it just keeps getting better by the day.
At least, that's it for now... Until I'm actually old enough to do more then that.I don't drink excessively like other people my age (18). I just have little tastes lol
Take care

ANYWAY you have rum is good, but I like to bake with it. Trifles are my signature desert--here is my recipe for Pina Colada Trifle.

Pina Colada Trifle

Ingredients
1 pk sugar free vanilla or French vanilla instant pudding
1 Package Instant Coconut Pudding
prepare these together, using skim milk. add about 4 tablespoons coconut to mixture.

1 13 oz can crushed pineapple (drained)
1 Angel food cake Cake, torn in pieces
1 tub fat free cool whip
About 20 maraschino cherries I used a whole jar, drained
1/4 cup or more Brandy or rum (optional)

Directions
In trifle dish, put a small layer of pudding. Layer as follows: half the cake pieces, mashing cake down. Sprinkle cake with half the rum, continue layers..... half the remaining pudding, half the pineapple, half the topping, remaining cake, rum, pudding, pineapple, cool whip. Garnish with cherries. Refrigerate for at least 5 hours or overnight. When ready to serve, scoop into dessert bowls.

It is important to understand the history of the drink. well it is too much to explain now, to put it short when rum was originally made it was of ver high alcoholic strength and to mask the harsh tase the farmers (Sugarcane) muddle it with lime and sugar the spin off over the years being caiparina, Daiquiri etc. But these days the drink is much more smooth and has character to it. So mix it with cola to mask the tase or drink it the way farmers did during its invention.

On the rocks, with coca-cola, or my personal favourite (as with any 30%+ non-Baileys alcoholic beverage) with ice-cold Barqs Root Beer.
