People seem to like to express their insecurities, inabilities, and lack of courage, belief, and faith in their own choices regarding religion, life style, and all the rest by trying to convince and telling others they are wrong for what they choose! This it seems - is life!
People that aren't sure of their convictions need to express the faults they perceive in others to justify themselves! The biggest one going is - "I'm going to Heaven and to God (Jesus Christ) for my lifestyle and choices and you're going to Hell for yours."
I'm sure that you know the arguement regarding other religions and faith - another big one is Islam!
Your beliefs and faiths are so very personal and hopefully maintained and obtained thru personal convictions, search for the truth, and what ever path you took to come to the conclusions that you have! Most people believe in something because someone told them to, because of family tradition, or culltural influences. Not because they personally went on a search for the Truth - their answers, faith, and beliefs are the result of doing what someone else seeked as the Truth not them for theirselves!
Truths that you've obtained because of your desire to understand the Truth allows you to have more respect for others and their beliefs. You allow others to have the same opportunity - you believe people will find this Truth if they want too and they will only find it - once they decide they need to do this for themselves!
Most people believe what they believe because someone else told them too - they don't and can't truly appreciate the gift of choice that God (Jesus Christ) gaves to all!
Individuals are given the gift of choice from the moment they are born to the moment they die - this is a prescious gift - no one has a right to impose! I agree! I've always allow others to use their gift as they choose! You see I understand why I made my choices - I allowed no one to get in my way - not even other people who believe and have faith in God (Jesus Christ)!

I agree with you - there's absolutely no reason to degrade someone for their own personal beliefs.

yet, it happens all the time - here, and everywhere else. For some reason (whether it's some dogmatic belief or ignorance - or both) people seem to feel the need to make everyone feel and believe the same things they do - and, when people don't, they attack them personally.

I'm an atheist, but I don't see any need whatsoever to try and "convert" every religious person to atheism. I also have a lot of very religious friends - and they don't try to convert me. We live in peace with each other, and respect each other's personal views.

I totally agree.

If it's a war people want between religions... this is not the place to do it. Insulting someone else has never proved anything. Being a jerk is not the same as being religious, no matter what. Believe what you will, try to convert others if that's what your religion calls for... but why insult others?

What a person believes in isn't usually the issue. The issue is a person forcing their beliefs on others. My girlfriend is Jewish and I'm atheist and I don't care because she respects that. She never feels the need to tell me all about her religion or try to convert me. The problem is that a lot of people are disrespectful with regard to different religions. People feel the need to convert others, or treat them differently because of their beliefs.

It matters what one person believes in the human context because it is part of human nature to be assured conformity and harmony in numbers.

It matters what one person believes in social aspect because it allows others to understand what this person is all about. By knowing the person, one can easily achieve common ground.

In the spiritual aspect, understanding the beliefs of others establishes basis for Truth. It is one thing that drives man to share with others on what makes his beliefs not only unique from others, but also on how it could enlighten others.

Good for you. Stand up for your beliefs and don't trample on others... very noble. However, most people are not as open minded so why even worry about their responses... well, assuming the ignorant masses don't rise up (like in Germany pre-WWII and parts of the middle east all through out history) there's no need to worry about what they think. Hold fast to your ideas and beliefs, and be prepared to always defend them. Take care.

Your question is WHY does it matter...???.......it is a
matter of going to Heaven or Hell.

If I see you heading for a bridge that is out and you didn't see the sign....I am going to warn you. It may seem I am putting your faith down, but I am not. I will show you where to search for yourself.

It is a matter of discussion to question one's religion and why you believe and if it lines up with Almighty G-d.

SOME on here are just to cause trouble. delete them....
SOME on here are trying to understand other's beliefs. be patient and teach....
Others are still searching. show them the way....

Do not be upset that others are still learning. I have learned a lot from all of you. I have to bite nails sometimes too. lol

Good Point Bethany,

....as long as religion does not infringe on my life, and liberties , I do not have a problem with other belief systems.

....Men and women of any faith are usually better people than they would be without their faith....

...However, when someone wants to kill me to convert me, religious fanaticism has reached an all time high!

This is exactly where the war begins in history.
These kinds of stories have been repeated thousand times!
People still don't get it!

It is like the lobster story.
Everyone knows lobster. However, it doesn't mean everyone has to eat lobster!

Those people who try to promote their religion to other people I see this as a behaviors of irreverent and insolent.
After all, they are hypocrite, uncultivated and dissembler!

Peace out!

I agree with you. So many seem to be trying to convert others either with scare tactics, guilt, or plain old pressure. A relationship with GOD is between a person and his/her maker...it is noone else's business. The feeling of "salvation" doesn't come from any book or any particular religion...it comes from within. If something brings you inner peace, so be it...as long as it doesn't hurt anyone or break any laws...more power to ya.

Yup, you nailed it. I feel the same way. If someone has a serious argument, I'm willing to debate. What I can't stand are people who strike out against others for their beliefs. The worst being atheists. They claim to believe in nothing yet they seek out to bash believers. Makes no sense.
