Hi,

Could you be more specific on the steriods that u take. I am also asthmatic, from my childhood. I have been using Asthalin Inhaler frequently. In fact, it is my constant companion. Whenever I feel an asthma attack coming on, I take a dose of the inhaler. It works 99% of time. In the last 4 years, I have had only 3 occassions, when it had not worked, and I had to take serious medication.

Talk to your Dr (or pharmacist) about new meds on the market. There are so many chemicals in our environment these days, it's a wonder more people don't have asthma. If you have been taking the steroids for 14 years, I assume you know you cannot wean yourself off them without being under the care of a physician. Right? I know the side effects are not wonderful. We are so lucky to live in this country today with our technology. If you had been born 100 years ago, you might be dead rather than chatting on Yahoo. Hang in there, the cure for asthma might be just around the corner, who knows?

Dr. Batmanheldi in his book, "Your not sick, your thirsty. Your bodies many cries for water" suggests many of our health problems are due to lack of hydration. He points out that the lungs have postules that have a small amount of water in them that help us breathe. The brain takes first priority over water consumption and when the body is dehydrated, the brain will start pulling water from less essential areas. When the brain takes the water from the lungs, it will close up the lungs to reserve water. Try drinking half your body weight in ounces of water, ex: 150lbs = 75 ounces daily.

The kind of water can make a difference as well. The cluster size of water needs to be small enough to get into the cells and hydrate. Tap water and most bottled water do not do that. Try a bottled water from the health food store like Penta or Smart water. They are expensive. You can make you own for less though with a treatment system. I recommend this one http://www.yourwellnesshome.net/productinfo/water.html

Steroids after a period of time, are not effective. You literally are just steroid addicted. Go to Asthma sites to find new treatments, and inform your doctor you want off. I had to pull myself off steroids. You actually have withdrawal symptoms, but believe me.......the pains were not due to my initial disease.
