Yes all the time:) lol
I wouldn't trust Yahoo for medical advice if I was on death row so to speak medically anyway.

I don't think people try to diagnose themselves. In the age of HMOs and rising medical costs Doctors are spending less time with patients. This leaves questions that some people would like answers to. Many just want a clarification as to what the Doctor told them or maybe some input from someone that is, or has experienced the same thing. This is a good forum for providing information as well as "virtual support" for those that have simple questions. I don't believe anyone that answers in the health category is trying to diagnose anything. Well, at least I'm not.

There a lot of intelligent people on Yahoo. You would be surprised to know how many differnet people of divers backrounds and careers are invloved and have a membership with Yahoo answers and questions. You could, litteraly, ask anything and find someone that will answer your question correctly. Most Yahoo members are no idiots. And if you can't find the answer your looking for, the people here would be more than happy to send you in the right direction so you can find the answer to your question. I've been on this program for a while now and I've meet all kinds of people. From the wide range of questions I've asked and seen other people ask I've yet to see one question not get answered, correctlly.

I think it is okay for people to ask about serious medical problems here at least they are here for genuine purpose. I don't think anyone should try to self diagnose by the answers they receive, but sometimes it might provide more insight into what questions they should ask their physicians

I don't try to self diagnose myself on the internet--I went to nursing school for that. So many of the persons who come to this site just want more detailed info or info related to the disease process. I get your drift though. Scarey, isn't it?

not really but i can see why people do. Some people don't have insurance and don't want to be too hasty and find out its nothing. I often find myself looking up symptom's just to be sure and if i suspect after some research that its bad then i go. but why jump to conclusions when it may not be that bad. Arming your self with knowledge is the best way to educate your self about life.

No, I only go to Yahoo answers for opinions. For medical advice I go to my Doctor or my Chiropractor depending on the ailment

Yes, in fact, if a green puss-like gel is flowing from your Yeti's @$$, should you take your Yeti to the Doctor or use Yeti Creame number 37?
See, I prefer Yahoo Answers as the first step. It saves money.
