You assume that there is a choice to be made. On top of that, you also assume that it's possible to know what will happen to you post-mortem.
According to Dante, there are perfectly good people in Hell. And Trey and Matt have said that some of the people in Hell are there because they followed the wrong faith, and consequently people in Hell make the best of it, since Heaven is filled with (denomination omitted) who are the most BORING people and so don't know how to make an afterlife.
If you follow the tenets of Buddha, then heaven and hell are nonexistant, and you are reborn into a new form depending on how you acted in a past life.
My personal preference would be for people on Earth to not be jerks to each other all the time. That's Jesus' message, and it would make this discussion academic because we would have the Kingdom of God here on Earth.

I have heard so many people say "hell" as the answer to this question as they think they will have a great party with all the other residents of the place. Guess what, there will be no party! How would you like to still have the all lusts and desires you have here on earth with no possibility of satisfying them - food, drink, fun, fellowship, friendship, rest, sex etc etc. Not a good time. But, at least you won't have any christians around to make you feel uneasy.
Me? I AM going to heaven. Jesus paid my fare on the cross. He paid for you too. You can go and enjoy eternity there.
You HAVE sinned (as I have). You CANNOT earn your own way to heaven.
Accept Jesus' free gift today. Tomorrow may be too late.

Gee, let me think about that. A place of perfect beauty, luscious food bearing trees, no more sadness, reunited with loved ones(I love mine), my own mansion --- or, seeing God point His finger the opposite way of Light, outer darknes where groanings, the worst stench of deadness is the air and no hope of changing my mind? I'd prefer Heaven.

I often wonder about this.
In heaven, we will be expected to sing God's paraises eternally. How long can you actually do that without going mad? I mean, pick a TV show, or a band you like; how long can you go on about it ...without stopping!... before you can't stand it?

seems to me that the question is are you ready to be a mindless sheep who has no free will doing just as your told when your told or could hell just be the twist of fate where you only make as bad as you want it to be.
If you read the scripture more closely you will discover exactly what I have just foretold to you.
