Can I install Linux on any of the logical partitions? What's the difference between physical and logical? Why only four as primary? Thanks

On my HD right now, I've got twelve partitions, mainly to discriminate where various files sit.

There's no reason you can't have five.

Note, though, that you will need to go into logical partitioning. You can have a hell of a lot of logical partitions, but only up to four primary partitions.
