I know what you mean. It seems to be the cause of a lot of problems. But, the truth is that everyone has their own religion. You believe what you believe and when you get together with a bunch of people who believe like you do, then you have your own religion.
The question is this- is there a right and a wrong? Is there truth? It's the answer to these questions, which we're all in search of, that produces various religions, including yours.
I think there is a lot wrong with christianity today. But having read the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, I fail to find anything wrong with Jesus. I believe he was the coolest dude to ever walk the planet. I would follow him whether he was God or not. Ignore the religious fanatics. Take a close look at Jesus for yourself.
Peace.

Some people definitely do cause trouble in the name of God. These people plain and simple do not have Gods backing. So yes we could get rid of religions that promote hate, greed, violence etc. because truthfully those people are not serving God but rather his adversary Satan who "has blinded the minds of unbelievers" and is trying his best to keep mankind serving him as"the God of this system of things".
God however is a god of love and when you TRULY do things his way you won't "cause trouble".

It will probably take centuries of social evolution but I think it's possible if we can just get future generations a decent education and remove this glut of ignorance. Then once they are intelligent enough to form their own philosophy we can work on humanity living without being cowardly and irresponsible toward each other- and then blaming it on some deity.
Now that I think about it, it's too tough and people are too ignorant. We may need to start with a new species that's a bit more intelligent and less dangerous to itself. ;)

I hope so. It has caused more problems and strife than all illnesses combined. Most all Wars are fought over religion. It instills distrust in nonbelievers that morphs into hatred. It is such a bad thing I can not even continue.

NO CHANCE! I mean the Native Americans still cling to their legends and stories, the Hawaiians still talk about Pele and their legends and gods, Arabs still cling to that murdering illiterate false prophets, Mormons still believe the absolute lies of Joseph Smith, and for crying out loud as long as they can use Jesus to make big bucks, those Protestant Television Preachers and 700 Clubs phonies will continue to guilt bucks out of people. No, too much pride and superstition and ignorance to blot out religion. Faith is far easier to lose and is far more important than religion.

Why must we get rid of Religion? They did not done anything wrong.
They teach and educate people wisdom and guide them when they're lost in spiritual.
So think twice and use your wisdom. If you don't have, pls ask God to give you.
Have a nice day!

You can be spiritual, yet not religious.
Nothing wrong with any of the religions: it's the way people interpret the teachings and misuse it that has caused problems.
Maybe humankind can never become completely civilized?

Good point. Yes, but it will take a while. We got rid of polytheism. It took a few thousand years, but now we make fun of Greek religion and call it "mythology." One day, they will be calling God and Allah and Yahweh "mythology" and laughing at how stupid books like the Bible really were.
