It is possibly his diet. Any well balanced food is great. IAMS etc. Lower quality foods can produce more stool and gas. Have you checked his teeth for problems which would cause him not to chew?

Well some dogs don't do well on the highest quality food. Or maybe she just wasn't doing well on the top quality food you gave her. And most dogs love to eat lower quality food because often it's sprayed with fat or something else that tastes nice to them. If you're on a budget, the best cheapest high quality food is Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul. It's about $1/lb. The next one down is the dog food from Costco (if you have a membership). It's the Kirkland brand food, it's very very decent. Not much fillers and mostly good stuff. It's about $0.50/lb. It's much better than some of the brands out there like Pedigree or Beneful, etc.

My dog was also rather... flatulant. Some breeds are just like that. We eventually figured out that she had a mild allergy to poultry- and there was poultry in the food we fed her. So when we changed her diet, it really helped. The brand is not as important so muc as what's inside the dog food- look at what you're feeding your dog and try something different once. See if it helps.

I have indoor dogs and they were going threw the same thing. I changed them to Diamond Pet Food. The gas seems to have passed (thank goodness). Diamond is all natural pet food. There is no Bi product or corn in the food. The corn often upsets their stomaches and gives them awful bad breathe. I brush their teeth at least once a month. You can find where you can buy Diamond dog food from the site I listed. Remember, when you do change your dogs food to mix it with the other food (what the dog has been eating) so that you don't give him diarrhea. Good Luck!!

Check the label for Corn, Soy(beans!) or Beet Pulp.
These are the most common gassing culprits.
Some dogs don't fully digest some kibbles, so if none of the above are on the label, you might try Wellness, or Innova...they are prepared differently and may digest more completely.
Availbale at most local pet supplies.

Try using Science Diet. They have a formula for the digestive system. Cheap brands of dog food can cause gas and are really just fillers. Most pounds and shelters use these. The best way to determine a good dog food is to look on the back where the ingredients are. If the first two ingredients are corn or rice its probably not a good dog food (that's why its cheap) You need to find a food that has chicken, lamb or beef as it's first ingredients. These are better ( a little more expensive) but they're better for your baby and will help them maintain a healthy coat, bones, joints and digestive system. As far as the bad breath this too can be a result of cheap foods. Buy your baby chew toys and dental bones they will help remove the plaque build up and tarter which cause bad breath. It's also a good idea to bring them in every couple of months to get their teeth brushed (or you can try to do this on your own :)~ ) If this continues you might want to bring him back to the vet. Good luck to you and your baby!

No need to change its food. Just make it a point that dog eats in a regular manner so as not to accumulate so much gas in the stomach. As with the breath, well, you need to patiently brush its teeth regularly.

you should find a dog food that doesnt have wheat or any kind of wheat by product. Those have been known to cause gas and really bad breath in dogs because a lot of dogs are allergic to wheat.
