I have a beautiful cat with no health problems. What is so strange to me is that whenever I pet her and she cuddles with me her nose starts to run!!! Is this normal and if so, what causes it?

hi this is pretty normal, my kitty babette sits on my chest when i lay down for a nap and when she getts into purring and snuggling, her little nose runs, and she drools, i think it is the saliva glands are stimulated when our furry children are happy and contented, rather like our saliva glands make our mouth water when we smell something good to eat. eme if you need anymore help or just to talk about kitties! iadorecats1955@netscape.com

Like others have said, it sounds like allergies. Try changing detergents to something fragrance free, see if that makes the cat's nose stop running. If that doesn't work, change the type of soap you bathe with. Basically, keep changing things until you figure out what the cat is allergic to.

Almost all of our cats do that. We own 5 cats and foster several sets of kittens. For some reason, when our cats are really cuddly and loving their noses just start a dripping. or they will start drooling. Many cats purr or drool when they are happy, so if they are dripping and aren't sneezing, then just know that your kitty loves you. If you see them sneezing and their nose is dripping other times, then it my be an upper respiratory problem (like a cold) and it will generally resolve itself later. Just make sure, if this is the case, that they are eating and drinking.

Pets can have allergies the same as we can have them. Usually it is an indication that your pet is allergic to something on you. It could be anything from your laundry detergent, soap, shampoo or your perfume or your deodorant even.
My dog's nose will run when I wear certain perfumes.

Are you sure it is her nose? Some cats will drool when they are being petted as they enjoy it so much.

she may be allergic to you or something you have on you. I had a dog that was allergic to human dander as well as cat dander
