I will be visiting Eglin, and I am wondering about guest housing. Do they have any MWR housing that's perhaps on the beach? Our favorite place was the hotel at Ft. Story in Virginia Beach...lots of atmosphere. More cozy-condo feel than Army guest quarters. Is it worth staying on base or staying elsewhere?

The temp housing is really nice. Try to get one of the ones out at Coastal Point. Its on the back side of the base and you are one the bay. Right down the street maybe 30 yards is a small beach. In the bay I have actually seen dolphins out there.

The rooms are pretty nice. They have a 2 bedrooms (1 has like a pull across wall thing) the other is a reg room and the couch folds out as a bed. It also has a living room and a kitchen.

Also at Coastal Point the MWR is located there so you can rent a boat for something like 20 an hour.

Depends, are you getting Officer housing or Enlisted housing? I've stayed on base in the Officer Quarters and I thought they were pretty nice. I doubt you'll find anything on the beach, call and find out though, you never know.

I can tell you in general the ones on the Army bases are pretty good. Air Force are far better, so odds are it's pretty nice.
