I usually eat a snack for energy 30 minutes before a workout. About an hour after a workout I will eat something else. When you eat after a workout it is more to feed your muscles which have been broken down by the excersise. Sleep also aides in repairing muscle tissue. I would not be concerned with gaining the weight right away unless you are eating foods that are high in calories. It is all a gradual process and depends on the individual's metabolism and body type.

"When a large meal is eaten, blood is sent to the intestines to pick up the nutrients from digestion. If vigorous exercise is attempted within a few minutes after a large meal, blood is sent to the working muscles and away from the intestines. This can cause nausea, cramps in the side, and general discomfort. On the other hand, a slow easy walk can be taken after a large meal without disturbing the digestive process.
It is best to have nothing in the stomach and intestines for 2 to 3 hours before high intensity, vigorous exercise. Drinking water is acceptable during this time to prevent dehydration.
In a general sense, it is better to exercise first and eat later. But if you must eat before exercise is attempted, eat carbohydrate foods, such as fruits, vegetables, and grains. These foods are digested faster and more easily than proteins and fats. Carbohydrates will be removed from the intestinal system faster allowing more vigorous exercise to be attempted sooner."

Actually it depends on what u eat and when u eat.
If u eat candy u will digest it faster than hamburger, so u should eat it just before u exercise to burn it..
If u want to give up weight, u should eat some candy or fruit, half an hour before u exercise to give urself a headstart...
u can have some orange juice after exercising, but shouldnt eat things that have lots of fat, ok...

After. I get a mean heartburn if I eat before. It's a lot more satisfying after a workout because I feel that I deserve to eat and enjoy it.

No, I would say that if you eat right before you exercise, then you'll go slower cuz your stomach's full, and you won't get as good of an exercise. Plus, you could get cramps.
