The seeds originating from what is known as "BC Bud" produce a plant with a high THC content. There are two separate strains known as "Chronic" that also have high THC levels in general. (And the two strains produce slight variations in the THC chemical composition...one more tranquilizing, one causing acute anxiety). However, much of the THC content of any strain is determined by how it is grown and when it is harvested.

THC is produced by the roots in response to the length of the day. Any indoor-grower can tell you the importance of changing the settings on the light timers. As the days lengthen, the plant says..."Hey, what a nice time to grow tall and leafy." But as the days begin to shorten, the plant says "Holy $hit, I need to make some seeds so there are more of me next year!"

This is how the plant does it: As the days shorten, THC (a flowering hormone) is produced by the roots and shipped up to the tips (scientifically known as the apical meristem). The THC causes buds to form. When seeds start to form, another chemical is sent back to tell the roots to stop doing that...we need all our energy now to mature these seeds!

So...for good bud, no matter what strain...make the plant flower, but don't let it go to seed. Once it seeds, THC production lowers and you get a variant known as "ditch weed."

Hope this wasn't TMI.

It's not potent by name alone. The THC content as you know makes it potent. One brand can grow good once then another can grow better the next time. Check some banks to find some that give an estimated THC content on brand alone that's a good place to start.
