IF your raising twins by your self the south beach may run into money. TELL you what i did that's cheaper. 1,800-2,000 calorie diet. BEFORE YOU START any diet check with your DR. I lost on the 1,800 cal diet. AND EAT a balance diet as well drink plenty of water at least 8 classes a day. BTW a pound a week is good .IT stays off that way.Good luck star

Basically - for 2 weeks you eat absolutely no carbs or sugar. This bascially means you can eat vegetables, meat, and dairy. No fruit, bread, or sugar of any kind. It's not so bad after you get used to it for a couple days but by the end of the 2weeks I thought I was going to vomit if I had to eat eggs again (I was a limited to what I could eat 'cause I don't like seafood). It worked though. My male friend and I both lost weight. We coupled it with working out a few times a week, but I'll be honest - I didn't push very hard. I lost about 10lbs through it.
The idea is after the initial 2weeks, you start working sugar and carbs back into your body slowly....ie) adding a piece of fruit per day. I didn't exactly do that, and although my sugar/carb intake was lower than it had been before, I likely added it in too fast so I gained back about 5lbs.
The thing that finally worked for me (I lost 20lbs) was counting calories. That way I was held accountable for every single thing I put in my body. Good Luck!

Asian Pear Salad

INGREDIENTS:
2 Asian pears, peeled, cored and chopped
1/2 shallot, minced
1 1/4 teaspoons diced fresh ginger
1 cup water
1/2 vanilla bean stick, scored in half
1 1/2 tablespoons sherry vinegar
1 tablespoon mirin
1 ounce soybean oil
Salt
Black pepper
1/4 pound baby greens
1/2 carrot, shredded (optional)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DIRECTIONS:
In a 1-quart saucepan, cook the pears with the shallot, ginger, and water over medium heat until soft. Strain and set aside to cool. Once at room temperature, puree one of the pears and strain through a sieve.
Remove the seeds from the vanilla bean and mix them into the puree. Discard the pod. Add the sherry vinegar and mirin and process in a blender or food processor. Slowly add the oil to emulsify. Season with the salt and pepper. Dice the remaining pear for garnish.
To serve, toss the baby greens well with the pear mixture. Divide among 4 serving plates and garnish with the shredded carrot (if using) and the diced pear.

It's basically a low-carb diet, but with lean meats. Fruits are included. The drawback on the south-beach is that it's tasteless. Boiling or grilling are the main staples. Oh, and egg whites instead of eggs. Too gross for me. It works, but I think the only people that can maintain it are celebs.

Yes, I Have...

After trying for 10 years. I finally lost 150+ lbs (12 stone) and kept it off for over 4 years now. I've beaten 3 terminal diseases and I am now in amazing health, all around, not just thinner.

I did it without medicine, workouts, religion, going hungry or hating my food and without an operation or secret formula. I had tried counting: calories; carbs; fat; etc. I had tried jogging, swimming, weights, aerobics, crazy medicines and starving! But nothing ever worked well or lasted very long.

I also had Hypertension, High Blood Pressure, Chronic Asthma, vision and hearing loss. constant colds and ills, annual flu or pneumonia and more. I was approved for bypass surgery and taking usually between 16 and 20 pills a day.

take a look at my before and after pictures...

oh i have tried it...its a tough diet for me because i love sweets. the first two weeks you can have ABSOLUTELY NO CARBS! not even fruit. you have to have a lot of fats and proteins well not fats but like cheese vegies and lean meats...i felt weak...it might be hard for you to try and keep up with the little rascals without all your nutrition but hey it works. the next few weeks you really see the wieght go...and you can start adding in fruit and whole grain
