Addiction is a destructive habit. It doesn't matter if its drugs, alcohol, sex, or faith. You're not living the life you were born to, if you're a slave to an addiction.
It's also one of the reasons AA has such a high failure rate (they won't admit it, but they only help between 5 and 10% or the people who come to them). The 12 steps are a way to convert an alcohol dependecy to a spiritual addiction. I've had many friends told that they must accept a higher power, instead of taking the full responsibility and blame for their addiction.

Distinguish the difference in this case between addiction and lifestyle. I've devoted my life to healing and peace. Does that make me an addict? No. I choose every day. When someone hits one of my "buttons," I choose to take a deep breath, step back, and realize they're playing their role, just as they're meant to do.
Devoting your life to God is a choice, and is a hard one to stick to on a consistent basis, every second of every day. It's a challenge. It's the best challenge you could ever choose.

If you are referring to wanting to spend alot of time reading the Bible and praying to the Lord. You are doing a great job. There is absolutely nothing wrong with living for the Lord. I have found it makes life alot easier. There are still trials but that is okay I know I never go through them alone. To you I say God Bless and Amen.

ABSOULUTELY! It is completely ok to "hunger and thirst for righteousness". To expect God to give us our purpose and meaning in life.
I believe our addictions are just cover-ups for our spiritual need to be completely sold out for something. We all have a place in our souls that only God can fill, and if we resist that or ignore God's place in our lives, then we will likely to become addicted to other things.

addictions are actual medical problems with the human body. some people are more addictive prone to certain things than others. It is kind of natural. if you have one you should try and overcome it, but some people cannot. blessed be.

addiction to God is called "religion" - God seeks a relationship with us, not a religion of humanity. the idea is not to be addicted to God, but to be one with God - to seek to be the incarnation of all the teachings of God

Sure. I recommend two books. "My Utmost For His Highest" by Oswald Chambers; and "The Imitation of Christ" by Thomas A'Kempis. Both of these men were addicted to God. Try also books by Watchman Nee and Corrie Ten Boom.

The term "addiction" should only ever be used in a negative sense, so the question answers itself.

God is not a crutch for life but a goal to reach in the afterlife. You can't use him as an escape. Fallowing him is a complete way of life.
