I've been on Amtrak several times and have never been asked for a an ID. To be safe, they should bring along maybe a school ID.

Make sure to call ahead of time to see if the train is on time because the last time I went on it, it was 7 hours late. My friend had to pick me up at 2:00 in the morning.

Why not just get a state ID for the teen? It takes a few minutes and costs about 10 bucks. Saves you a lot of trouble.

I think with all the terroism that is taking place, it is probably worth the $17 to take them to get a state ID card if they do not have a school ID (ASB) card. At least in Wash state is it only $17.
