The Susquehanna River runs through three states: New York, Pennsylvannia and Maryland. It ends at the Chesapeake Bay just close to Aberdeen, MD. The closest city to New York that is located on the river is Wilkes-Barre, PA which is about 125 miles to the west of NY. I don't think the river is any closer to NY than the area close to Wilkes Barre.

according to Microsoft streets and maps the river is only 104 miles from the geographic center of New York at 1 Broadway to Pittston Pennsylvania. and as far as 160 miles to Liverpool, PA
