The worm check is a good idea. ANtother thought is many times a young adolesent (and that would describe a yearling dog or even a 2 yr old in late maturing breeds) will be lanky just because they are young (think beanpole teenage boys) and you just have to wait for them to mature to fill out.
But my instant thought is congratualtions, they are advoiding the obesity epidemic & be much better off for it - fat is NOT cute

Well first off, if you're not feeding him he'll lose weight and become sick, and possibly die. You should refrain from feeding him table scraps. Pedigree is a good, nutritional dog food.

You might want to take him to the vet to see if he's wormy. He might have worms in his stomach, heart, or intestines, and it's very uncomfortable in an animal.

He might be stressed out or hurting somewhere therefore making him not hungry.

If he plays a lot and uses a lot of energy throughout the day you might not be feeding him enough food, if you're feeding him at all.

My advice, give your dog to a good home if you don't know how to take care of it. Or take him to the vet for a PROPER checkup, shots, etc.

Why on earth would you want to make him fat and chubby? Are you planning on eating him or something? Animals should NOT be fat/chubby. Look at Americans, so many are getting fat and chubby, and it's very UNHEALTHY! The same goes for dogs. If you're going to put its healty in jeopardy, I think you should give him to a BETTER HOME. You don't want your dog to be overweight. It's stressful on its limbs, and it makes it harder for them to run around and play.

My dogs would eat dry dog food, but not very much. One puppy was very skinny barely would eat and was low on energy which is very strange for a puppy who isn't even one year old yet. We started to mix their dry food with with wet dog food packs they love the gravy from the wet food packs so they eat the dry food too. All my dogs are hyper like puppies and are gaining weight you can tell they feel a lot better because they get full. By the way we use Iams dog food and wet dog food packs. They have lots of vitamins and are very good for your dog. They also have just some plain sauce's in a bottle from Iams that would work just the same. Hope this helps. Good Luck!!!!

my dog gotten really skinny a while ago and my mother started feeding her canned dog food for a while and sometimes give her some meat to eat. Its not good if they are TOO fat so then just be careful! Good luck! (:

I would check for worms and take blood .Than I would feed him a high protein deit if the vet says its okay.Dont make him to fat you will regret it because as they get older they gain weight and than you will be asking how to take the weight off.

Have your dog tested for diabetes.
Is your dog vomiting often? Is it eating heartily yet still thin? Does your dog seem to have weak hind quarters? Does your dog have cataracts... meaning have a blue tint in its eyes? All these (and more) are typical symtoms of diabetes.

have a stool sample and a vet check up, they may have worms, keep them in shape, not chubby or overweight. This can lead to health issues.
