I saw this show on TV that said it was this microscopic critter called a water bear. Supposedly these things can be frozen, dehydrated, starved, shot into deep space or exposed to levels of radiation hundreds of times greater than what would kill a human, and the just hibernate right through it. You can revive them years later.
