Use the succulent aloe vera plant. Cut it down the length of the leaf and open it, revealing the inner. Rub the clear gelatinous inner over the burned area. Repeat as often as you like. This is better than most bought aloe vera treatments because it's clear and you know what's in it. Use very mild lotion before bed at night to help keep the skin moisturized.
Wear loose-fitting cotton clothing that will not irritate the affected areas. Other materials, especially man made ones like polyester, can rub harshly against the skin and make a burn feel much worse. If it is the summer or you are able to stay at home, do so and wear as little clothing as possible to keep it from hurting your skin. But put a soft cotton blanket over the couch or bed to keep your skin from rubbing against upholstry.
I
f the burn is very recent (still red and not peeling),use a tomato. Tomato juice is acidic but it doesn't hurt and helps the redness.
Calendula ointment is also a very effective treatment, especially good for severe burns with blistering. You can find it at a naturopath.
Keep it cool; not too much clothing and an ice pack can be great on a burn. Bathe with cool water and avoid soap, which can cause irritation.
Keep a spray bottle around of 10 parts water, 1 part cologne. The alcohol in the cologne will cool the skin as it dries. Don't spray in or near your eyes!
Apply witch hazel lotion, a good aloe alternative.
Unless you have abrasions on the burned skin, try vinegar. Mix 50-50 with cool water, soak towels in the solution and drape over the burns.

I am well experienced with sunburns -- I'm from hawaii. the best thing is to spray on some Solarcaine or put on some aloe vera lotion as soon as possible to soothe it. Drink lots of water. Problem with sunburn is the headache, blistering (if it's really bad) and sleepiness too. If the pain is really bad then take some Advil/Motrin. Try to stay out of the sun for about a week to let your skin recover. The pain will last a few days, then it'll start to itch. The skin will start to peel off in about a week and you'll see a fresh new layer of skin under it. Don't try to peel it off yourself -- let it come off naturally. When you see it peeling you can probably put some moisturizing cream on it to make it not look so gross. IN the future use sun screen 30 SPF or more - - especially these days when the ozone is getting depleted.

Depending on your skin color and the severity of the burn, anywhere from 3 days to 2 weeks. The best thing is Aloe Vera gel, lotion isn't strong enough. Ps- there's an aloe vera gel that turns your sunburn into a tan, the brand is Hawaii tan maker. But if you can't get it, I recommend Banana Boat Aloe after Sun gel. Good luck with that

depends on your skin type, but to help with the burn you can try taking a couple of aspirin or ibuprofen ( they kill the pain and reduce the swelling) a cool compress compress not ice as ice can traumatize the skin, a cool bath or an oatmeal bath will relieve the itchness of the dried, sun burnt skin, cortisone ointment is an anti-inflammatory salve can keep down the inflammation and swelling, use an ointment not the cream for sunburns

Mine lasted for a couple of days, I took tylenol for the pain, and used aloe gel its a green gel they sell in most drug stores, its found on the suntan product section. That was the only thing that refreshed my skin, except I had to keep reapplying it every few min.
