i shouldnt be scared cuz i already had a root canal, but i have to go tomorrow and im scaring myself. i know its not the end of the world, but if my tooth dont get numb and he hits it with the drill, it will be the end of the world and probably the end of that visit. im just worried and plus, i had my wisdom teeth cut out last monday so that still hurts really bad too.

my mom had a root canal, she said it was the 2nd worse pain she had ever felt (1st being labor). I remember when she had it too, she was really hurting.
But you cant go by other people because everyone reacts differently. I had 4 impacted wisdom teeth removed all at once, and it didnt hurt AT ALL. my braces hurt more. But my brother only had 2 out, and his WEREN'T impacted and he was in pain for over a week and was throwing up and stuff, so u can never really tell....

The root canal healing is NOT intended to be a painful process, if performed adequately and in time. Most endodontic approaches want simplest minimum anesthesia. If the nerve of the enamel is already lifeless, the sufferer would possibly want no anesthesia in any respect. Do you realize why such a lot of persons are pronouncing that it's painful? Because they'd heard equivalent reviews of terror approximately it, they acquired afraid and postponed it till they ended up with a significant and incredibly painful enamel abscess. If you deliver the time to the enamel contamination to unfold, then it's actual that the healing can be painful. The anesthesia has reduced effectiveness on infected tissues. In usual, the risk of experiencing discomfort for the duration of or after root canal raises as more potent used to be the discomfort that an individual had earlier than going to the dentist. Otherwise, in case you continue to the healing after the primary indicators of trouble, root canal healing could be a painless process. Waiting till the discomfort turns into insufferable is the worst factor you'll do. And ultimately, if you'll have the funds for the better rate decide upon a specialised endodontist.

I have had two root canals and an apico thing/procedure. None of my root canals were very painful. The apico surgery wasn't painful during the surgery, but it freaked me out and was a bit painful for a while afterward.
You should be fine. Discuss your fear with the doc and then maybe s/he can test the numbness before s/he uses any equipment.
Sorry about the wisdom teeth. I know that can be quite painful. I've heard that wisdom teeth surgery is worse than a root canal. Hope that helps.

i had my first root canal when i was 10 and i had my last one 3 years ago (i hope) at age 36. The process has indeed improved over the years. The only thing that really hurts is the BILL. Bring a CD player and tell the doc to give u an extra shot of Novocaine 4 good luck

I've had three root canals and none hurt during or after at all. I go in , ask for extra freezing, after all, i am the one paying for it. After I leave I take advil right away so that the freezing doesn't wear off and I am high and dry. Take a nap and I am good to go to work the next day. Really, it was equal to getting a filling.

Don't worry, you won't feel a thing. Try to think of something relaxing, and you'll be finish in no time.
One suggestion though: Take care of this tooth right away. Put a crown/cap on it.
I paid a fortune for my root canal, and I couldn't afford a crown, by the time I had my crown put on, my tooth was falling apart, and not I had it pulled.
Good luck.

I want you to take some nice, slow deep breaths and try to relax. You are getting yourself all worked up for nothing. All will go well, you'll see. Go to sleep and stop asking all these questions...you are just getting yourself all in a tizzy. Come back tomorrow and tell us how well it went...ok?
