Start with a smoothing shampoo and conditioner. Redken's Smooth Down is great. Also, use a straightening blow dry cream or lotion. Silk Result Straight Smoother is a suggestion. Also, use a thermal protective spray when you flat iron. If you dont protect your hair, you will have heat damage. You really shouldnt use a clothes iron to straighten your hair. They werent designed for that, and I had a client who did this and fried her hair. It was awful.

i'm writing from my boyfriend's account in case you were questioning the validity of a male's opinion on this matter. i myself have very curly hair and have found that the most effective way to straighten my hair is to dry it with a blow dryer while brushing it through, use straightening spray and finish off with a quality ceramic flat iron (these can go for nearly 200 dollars in a salon and are usually only an inch thick). it's worth the investment, they're much more reliable than the ceramic straighteners you buy at target.

You need to start straightening your hair while in the shower. Whether you wash your hair at night or in the morning does not matter. BUT go to a Sally's Beauty supply and get a shampoo and conditioner from ION called straight. Also get thier heat styling spray. After your shower blow dry your hair with a flat back brush and then straight iron any loose ends.

I also have very curly hair and i have found that if you do straighten it the night before with a straightener and then do it again when you wake it straightens much more quickly and looks alot better.

Lay your hair on an ironing board and use your clothing iron. Just put a thin towel or piece of cloth on your hair so that you don't burn it. I do it all the time. If you don't have someone that can do your roots for you, just do as much as you can with the clothes iron and use a regular flat iron to straighten the roots.

Do your hair the night before and when you wake up retouch by ironing stray hairs. I use Maxi Glide straightner, and it works for me.
