I am not Muslim, Jewish or Christian ... but I have studied Semitic languages ... including Levantine Arabic and Hebrew for over twenty years ... and including also the Quran and Torah ...

My question to all Muslims is this ... How or why do the Sunis and Shiites not believe that Israel should have the right to "exist" that was granted to them by the UN and world community in 1948?

It is not an oil rich, or even resource rich land ... And Arabic peoples possess a wide continent around it that is both oil and resource rich ... I understand well the historic claims put forth on both sides of this issue ...and should add that historically Palestinian peoples were also displaced in Jordan- and were never given a right to found an autonomous nation in it's midst...

I should add that I am a huge admirer of Arabic culture- especially sufism ... I love Jalaluddin Rhumi, Kahlil Gibran etc ... historically there was a time that Arabic culture was the "flower" of this world...

Leading all in comparative philosophy, astronomy, mathematics ... That Roger Bacon was the recipient of Dhervish teachings in Damascus- leading to the West discovering it's methodologies for science is not lost upon me ... I love Idries Shah's 'The Sufi's' that explores Gazali and the many varied gifts that Arabic scholarship has given our world towards Renaissance and illumination ...

Yet in the world I observe I am continually shocked and saddened that the Arabic world at large cannot seem to elinquish it's obstinate obsession with the craggy land of Israel ...

I am American ...It reminds me of the "what if my country was still arguing with Canada over the border with Maine" ...historically it became settled- and now we leave each other in peace over it ...

Are there any voices Suni and Shiite in the Arab world that argue perhaps they should simply concede the right to exist as a nation to Israel? ... I am not trying to incite rage .. I am honestly interested in all

re:yoyoda ...Idries Shah is Northern India- as Islam is quite strong there ...but you are quite mistaken in ascribing it's(Sufism's) origins to there ...but whereas I appreciate your candor and opinion ... they are not from an informed Muslim perspective(not making you necessarily wrong- but in the context of my question- is what I clearly asked for) ..consider the murshids who were Muhammed's companions- there "sufism" begins ...

As a Muslim, if I had the power, I would move all the Muslims living in or near Israel. Simply to end all of this violence. I, like so many Muslims, have no hatred burning in my heart. The other day on the news, I saw an old Jewish woman who had lost her family when one of the rockets hit their house. Imagine being that old and watching your own children die. My heart went out to her.

However, it's an entirely different scenario when you yourself are living in such extreme conditions. Both sides believe that they have more rights. It's not about who is right or wrong. It is about defending what you believe in, no matter the cost.

What I said above has nothing to do with Hezbollah or the Israel government. I have equal dislike for both of them. Israel continues to hurt innocents simply to exact their revenge. And Hezbollah doesn't seem to care that their actions are costing so many Muslims their lives. And the situation is simply escalating.

A elaborate query with an similarly elaborate reply. A a million state answer is a none starter as neither part could conform to it Obama is asking for a two state however in which will those two states be centered.? The Gaza Strip could ,on the second, furnish part with the West Bank being the opposite part joined via a outstanding freeway or a protracted tunnel. The trouble here's how are the Israelis going to take away four hundred,000 strange settlers? The hassle approximately the correct to exist is just a minor trouble as long as it does now not difference to the no correct to exist. A 3rd alternative could be to position the entire of the West Bank underneath COMPLETE manipulate, of the Palestinians adding the removing of Israeli troops and police. . With that plan the various unlawful settlers could transfer out voluntarily. That leaves East and West Jerusalem Not so elaborate because the West stays Jewish even as the East is going to the Palestinians. This hyperlink filmed via CBS information offers a well account why the West Bank would be the primary trouble

I would like to answer this question not as a muslim, christian, jew ...but as a human being.
If you study the history of the region you will find that conflict in one form or the other has been endemic between muslims, christians and jews. There were many Jewish tribes living in the Arabian Peninsula but were all pushed out by muslims. Historically Jews were living in the land much before Islam was even founded.
Having said that, at the level of countries and cultures you really cannot go back into history to undo the earlier human migrations and occupations as that will open a pandora's box.
I feel that Muslims should first of all, shed the baggage of history & try to look forward rather than regressing back. They should learn to be be practical and accept the existence and at least learn to tolerate the state of Israel. Israel also needs to give enough land and coastline to the Palestanians to enable it to create a VIABLE and sustainable state.
In other words it has to be a give and take from both sides.

Incidentally Sufism has its roots in India.

I have wondered this question myself

their are about 3 million Arabs in the west bank and about 1 billion Muslims in the world.

how difficult would it be (especially if Israel would pay) to move these people to other Muslim nations?

that would seem to end the conflict right their.

It is not Muslims; it is "politics." There are other countries in the world doing same thing , and there do not live Muslims.
