Lean back is not a good thing, I have swallowed a lot of blood...(I kinda like it) but seriously, I need to find a way to stop it.

Pinch just below the bridge, to clamp off the blood vessels, and hold it for 5mins over a sink/bowl. If it is still bleeding in 15/20 mins - go to a doctor. Really.
Oh, and stop picking.

Well it depends on what caused the nose bleed. In my experience the quickest way to stop it is to put a cotton ball under your upper lip and press on it. This applies pressure to blood vessels that supply the nose.

lean forward and pinch the bridge of your nose hard, yes it will hurt a little, also, ice helps .
Dont shove anything in your nose bigger than your finger! It could be dangerous until you find out why it is bleeding. and lean forward not back that is an old wives tale

According to my husband (he as the head of his school's St John unit), you are supposed to pinch the bridge of your nose and lean forward slightly.
It will stop in a while.
Do not tilt your head back as the blood flowing in the opposite direction may create complications.

first off DO NOT get it cauterized it destroys the septum in your nose exposing vulnerable blood vessels. i had bloody noses daily and then i started taking cayenne pepper every day, and now on the rare occasions that i do bleed it stops with in a minute. you can get it at any health food store it is excelent for your heart, blood pressure, and veins. you can type it in any search engine and it will tell you all the details.

Tilt your head up and hold your nose closed for about five minutes. Make sure you have a tissue to catch the blood. It should stop.

pinch closed till bleeding stop then put ice on nose that works best

Get it Caudarized...aka burnt closed... That is the quickest.. and then the blood vessel is clamped off.

put pressure on the upper part of your nose and hold it with your two fingers and put something cold on your forehead. When I was little I suffered a lot of it.
