My "real" dad is in jail, and has been for several years. I met him once when I was 8, and am now in my teens. We have been sending mail back and forth for a while and I have been sending pictures- this time out of curiosity my mom asked which ones I was sending, and one of them was of me in a pool ( with a one piece very modest bathing suit on).
She told me that because he was a man in jail, he might not see me as his daughter, but as a woman in a pool, and that I couldn't send it.
It made me horrifyed thinking about this...and just did as she said...
But do you really think my own father....would see me a different way? Is that how it is in jail?
This makes me feel....awkward.

He is in for repeatedly bloodying up his girlfriends and cops that tried to stop him.

Just because your father is in jail doesn't mean that he's not your father, or sees you in a fatherly manner - there are plenty of people who aren't in jail that would look at you in a swimsuit and think lavisicious thoughts. Jail doesn't necessarily mean someone is evil, just that they may have made some poor decisions earlier in their lives.
Anyways, I'm shocked that your mother would put those ideas in your head. I know she's probably looking out for your best interest, but planting seeds of doubt about your father doesn't benefit your relationship with him (or with your mother). She should have suggested it in a different way

If your dad has some real weird issues and problems then, of course, he could look at you in some perverted way. Is there some reason for you to believe that with your experiences with him? Wonder why your mom is thinking that way? Don't want to alarm you but that seems kinda strange that she would bring that up, of course, unless she is just overprotective and knows how strange men can sometimes be. I would worry more about the way that other men in the prison would see you. Never know if one of them could become attracted to you seeing your picture everyday and try and look you up after he is freed!! Probably the most likely scenario and you wouldn't want to do this to your dad, is if some guys in prison make some comments about you or looks at your picture funny and your dad ends up fighting with them cause of it. Wouldn't want to hear your dad have to say" them are fighting words." So all in all, I would just probably send him good wholesome pictures. Good Luck

I was in prison for a while and not once did I ever think about my kids in an inappropriate way. Pictures of your kids are like gold when you are locked up. Sex is not the only thing people who are locked up think about. If you are uncomfortable sending the pic, don't send it. I'm sure your dad would not think of you in a bad way... he would just see his "little girl". He also would not let any other inmates see you in a negative way either(inmates do not disrespect each other that way).Besides there is plenty of porn in prison for guys to look at. Guys in jail who look at under age girls get beat down pretty severely by other inmates.
I agree with slinkey 1616 also.

Weird things happen to a guys mind when he is in the slammer! I know this seems weird and sick, especially when talking about your father, but he has not seen a beautiful girl in years, and a pic of you in a swimsuit could very well trigger the wrong thoughts. Also consider he has to live with a cellmate who may see the picture, and take it out on your dad. For his sake, don't send it.

I would worry more about the other men in jail who would see the pictures. Send other ones, there's no reason to take a chance.

well i wouldnt worry about your dad, but do you want the other men in the jail seeing you like that..i'd send very modest pictures

hard to think about it but very possible. very possible. that and if the other inmates got their hands on it, could lead to awkward situtations for him as well. think about it, some guys gets your bathing suit picture, talks lots of trash and says he'll do things to you in front of your dad. dad doesn't like hearing this and violence ensues. you can pretty much get the gist from there.
send VERY moderate pics.

i'd be more worried about the other guys in jail seeing a picture of you in your swimsuit...send modest pictures.. jeans and tshirt.. stuff like that

as the answer before me, the other jail members probably would steal them in a heart beat(they are in jail for something aren't they?)
Don't worry about ur dad, its wrong of ur mom to say that about him...

What is he in jail for? Maybe she knows of something she does not want to tell you. Maybe there is something bad in his past she knows of (rape, molestation, etc.) because her reasoning sounds very strange to me????? But it's true, I'd be worried about OTHER men in there, even so.
