prevention starts at home. Ask about their day & what happened. ASK THEM TO show THIER home work if they are in fear, anger, or depression give them a outlet for their feeling's walking, writting, set prayers to me,orize, phone a friend or famly member they haven't seen in awhile. Give hugs not advise. Love, love, love and reach out to them, Many people are lonely and touch deprived & think they are different and the only only one who experence these painfull feelings. Touch them, even it is embaresing to them ,accept them the way they are and tell them you do offen.REASURENCE in there apearance and inteoligence is important People turn to drugs because theyhave poor comuncatin skills and use alcohol to grease the wheels and talk. They are in pain mentaly emotionaly and pysicaly. Anger is the # one offender. If you give them enough qulity time ( something you both like ,yodo together)

There is no "Best Way". I am 15 and have moved several times, most kids will experiment eventually, I have seen it and know it. As long as your kids are involved in one or 2 activities, and have good friends, they will make the right decision. I am not saying they will not ever smoke some weed, or drink a beer. Everyone will eventually. If they were brought up right, they will make the right decision when the time comes.

Talk to your kids, spend time with them, know where they are, know their friends and their friends parents. Don't use extracurricular activities and programs as babysitters - be involved in your kids lives and they will be less likely to turn to drugs. You are the biggest influence in your childs life- if you refuse the job, someone else will come along and take it and 9 times out of 10 you wont like what they are influencing them to do.
Most kids know the negative effects - the same kids that at 10 years old are screaming 'Just say NO!' are hanging out smoking pot at 15- why? they know what it will do to them, but if you don't care about where they are and what they are doing, why should they??

Lay rules out for your children. Be strict but fair. Watch who they hang out with, and know where they are. Don't give them free reign. Keep your meds locked up, and don't let them know you have any... especially pain killers.

Consume them all ourselves so that there will be nothing left for the children.
Just like we are doing with all of the other natural resources in the world.

Educate them! Teach them about drugs. Teach them to say "No". Teach them how to protect themselves by talking to adults they can trust. Teach them where to report drugs, etc. Teach them that YOU value being drug free.
