So many branches popping up all over the place like evangelical churches. Brainwashing women who treck to Curves like chunky zombies. Is Curves a front organization for some insidious comspiracy? I am worried because I know someone who goes to Curves.

I go to a gym called Fitzone. I think they may only be in Michigan right now.. but you can check them out at www.fitzoneforwomen.com While I was at Fitzone one day I was listening to a girl with a free day pass talking to the owner about how much he would discount her membership if she joined because she still had a curves membership, and in only one day at fitzone, she liked it better.

The biggest difference is that at curves you do everything for 1 minute. That doesn't exactly seem right, does it..."oh boy, I get to go on the treadmill for one minute"... not exactly a good workout. A lot of women's gyms are like this.

At fitzone the cardio is seperate. You can do the cardio for as long as you'd like (they do limit it to 40 minutes at a time because they can only fit so many different machines in a building and everyone wants a turn) Then they have the weight machines. These aren't the kind of weight machines I've heard of at some women's gyms were you cannot set the weight yourself. I actually read an article about Ladies Workout Express, where the owner said that they recalibrate the weights every night.. so they are ready for people in the morning. So everyone that walks in the door is lifting the same amount.. this means there really cant be that much weight on the machine. If you cannot increase the weight, you cannot gain strength.

At Fitzone, the weight machines have adjustable everything. The seats adjust, the foot pedals (if it has them) adjust, and you can adjust the weights to suit you. The trainer takes you thru this 3 times so you get comfortable with it, and then you are on your own.

It is also one of the only womens gyms that provides aerobics. They have ball aerobics, step, pilates, kickboxing, and some others I can't remember.

This is a great thing to get into. I'm not an owner, I'm not an employee, I'm just a paying customer. But let me tell you, if I had some money, I'd be opening a franchise!!

Can I ask also why all the women on the curves commercials are big?? Shouldn't they have women of all shapes and sizes? Is this saying only big women need exercise? Or if you exercise you will still be big? Or no skinny people allowed?? I don't get it.

It's a "girlie" gym, not a real gym, and it's ownership is conservative, too, so I wouldn't spend my money there.
