Of all the theories I've heard or read, this one seems to be the one that makes the most sense. It is not actually a law that you have to have a social security number. In fact, they didn't even start automatically assigning them until 1996. In Revelations, it states that men will be tricked into recieving the "number of his name" and that any without it will be unable to buy or sell. You do not even legally have to disclose your number to your employer. This issue has even gone all the way to the Supreme Court and the only times anyone was ever required to obtain or disclose it was if they were applying for ANY form of government assistance. The most recent case being in 2003. So, think about it, we have all been tricked into recieving the "number of our names" and without it, soon we will not be able to buy or sell.

I don't agree that the mark is necessarily a physical sign. The mark for Christians is the mark of Baptism and Confirmation (when the Bishop makes the sign of the cross on the Confirmandi's forehead with Sacred Chrism (oil)). These are marks that the faithful carry around with them, but cannot necessarily be seen.

The mark referred to in revelation is a mark on your soul....and not one that man can assign. there are two types of marks. The mark of the beast, and the mark of The Father. the second being the greater and the only way to determine which mark you have is through the way you live today.

The mark is also described as something that will be placed on the wrist, or forehead. Also, It comes from one world leader. The world will be at peace when the leader requires us to take the mark in order to buy or sell. Don't worry about it :)

No I don't. I heard a sermon the other day and the preacher said that the literal translation was IN THE HEAD OR RIGHT HAND.
The key word being "IN" . that points to the new computer chips they can inject under your skin and read you as you merely walk by a scanner.
