My suggestion is to just read a little at a time daily. Don't try to cram it all in because you know that you forget it all. Work at your own pace, just do it within the allowed class time. Relax, believe in yourself............YOU CAN DO IT!!!1

You could get a tutor or ask your teachers for some help before or after school or maybe during lunch. I don't know what your family's financial situation is like, but Sylvan Learning Center has programs for a hourly fee; and they are really good.
Basically the only way to get "smarter" is to apply yourself more and sometimes get the help of others. I consider myself intelligent but there were some classes that were harder for me only because the teacher's teaching method didn't work for me. A lot of teachers teach using the method that is easiest for them, but there are many ways of figuring out the same problem and Sylvan has very good teachers that just may know a better way to help you understand.
If you try and still find that the advanced classes are too difficult, you might consider transferring into a class you can do the work in and that will still allow you to learn something. Good luck.

Seriously, most of this isn't about smart or dumb. It's about choosing the correct classes for the background you have in a subject area and then about organizational and time management skills. Get a good planner and plot out mini-deadlines to break your big projects and deadlines into smaller, less overwhelming chunks. If you find that you really are in over your head due to lack of background in the subject, bail early while your options are best.

Try reading books if you aren't into books already. Start with stuff that you like reading abt initially romance, self improvement etc etc...gradually try getting into details abt stuff that you find interesting...As far as materials are concerned don't put pressure on yourself if you don't understand it in the first go...I'm sure even understand things in the first go :)
And by the way your willingness to improve proves you aint dumb :)
ciao
take care

If you are taking AP classes, you can't be dumb. It is possible that you are just taking to many classes right now.

Just try putting some effort in them. But if you feel you can't do the work try some easier classes and work your way up.
