Sola Scriptura means using the bible only as the only source of truth about God. This is a protestant teaching. However, it is flawed. What most people dont' realize is that the official canon of the bible wasn't put together until about the 4th century, some four hundred years after the death of Christ. Does this make it false somehow? No. Before the bible was officially put together, the teachings of Christ were preserved in writings and letters and by word of mouth, because this is how all things were preserved back in His day. This is called oral and written tradition. This was the culture then. Most protestants either ignore this or aren't even aware of it. It is those traditions, along with scripture, that the Catholic Church has preserved to this day. To ignore tradition is to ignore four centuries of Christian history, whether you are Catholic or Protestant.

This comes from Martin Luther's and later John Calvin's codification of what he believed should be reformed from Protestantism i.e. The Reformation

There are actually 3 solas (what was believed to be necessary for human salvation):
sola scriptura - scripture alone
sola fide - faith alone
sola gratia - grace alone

Hahaha thats a good one. I like it. you crack me up.

Wait, you are serious aren't you...

Ok, Sola Scriptura is scripture alone in latin, and it is a doctrinal stand where only the Bible as accepted in the canon, known as 'scripture', is the word of God. It means no other books were written by God.

So yes, i guess you could say that it is biblical, otherwise the bible would contradict itself.

Yes, a very witty Question (even for a Catholic =) *clap clap*

It means to follow Scripture alone without relying on man-made doctrines. I would say it is scriptural though "Sola Scriptura" is not written in the Bible. Martin Luther made up the phrase.

means "only using Holy Scripture".....Johm 3:16-17 - 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work........You dont need anymore scripture. So cross out Talmud, Book of Mormon, Quran or Vatican writings
