If you sold the pup without a health guarantee, you are NOT liable.
If there was a health guarantee in writing, then you are.
The price is exorbitant for de-worming treatment, and surely includes other testing and vaccinations,
If you live in California and other states that have a strict "puppy lemon law" AND sell more than 50 puppiies per year, then you would be liable.

First of all, where on earth did these people take the dog to find out it had worms for $166??? That's a ridiculous amount. I recently had a dog tested for worms, had blood work done, a total exam and some various other work and it was only $80--and that included the medications he gave her. So $166 is a lie to begin with (or at least does not JUST cover worm treatment).
As for the liability. It really depends. Why did you charge $60? It's a low price for a pure breed dog. But an exceptable price for our "mutts" that we want to ensure are cared for. If you did give any type of health guarantee or said they were vet checked, how specific were you? You can say they were vet checked and received their shots on this day (which may be the truth). If you sold this puppy two weeks later, it may have gotten worms. Heck, the poor puppy could have gotten worms a day or two after it was purchased!!
From a legal point of view, this isn't enough information to give you the right legals behind it. But in my personal (legal) opinion, no, you're not at fault or liable for anything.

Depending where u are at depends on the differant laws.
I really do not think u will be held liable as long as u
1. did not tell the people it had been wormed.
2. did not tell the people it had been checked by your vet.
Did the people ask u if it had been wormed?
If they did not ask, and u did not give the people false information then u will not be held liable.
word of advice. If u sell anymore puppies i would make sure that the people know all information regarding the pup. If it hasn't been wormed or haven't had any shots make sure u have written agreement between u and them they understand it has had no checks from the vet. Then they cannot come back on u for sure.

there is no law saying you HAVE to give shots and worming. breeders do this as a service to the pets first and the new owners second. its so the pet is protected until the new owner makes an appointment. unless you had a written agreement to do so.and that was part of the selling price. also if you said you would worm the pup you are still only liable for the wormer meds not the visit . it needed the visit for its second shots anyway.

It depends on where you live. I know someone who found an abandoned pup and she sold it for $20, thinking its new owners would appreciate it more if they paid something. It ended up needing a couple thousand dollars of work and she had to pay for it, AND they got to keep the puppy.
You should have had it tested for worms though.
$166 seems awfully high for that.

I don't think so. ALL puppies have worms! You should have put pups on meds before selling them, but everyone should know that pups have worms!! AND WHERE did they get the meds?!?!? I think they're scamming you!! My pup's meds only cost about $20.
Hope it works out!!
Much Love!!

1. Given the fact that ALL pups are born with intestinal parasites, you are negligent in not getting them on a wormer soon after birth.
2. You are negligent for not having your dog spayed 3 months ago.
3. Stop breeding!

you are only liable if you started that the dogs were in good health or that they were vet checked. Otherwise it is the buyers responcibility to have a pet checked out by a vet.
