The difference is a Y instead of a W. Down here in Texas we call them crawdads...they can be called either..crawfish/crayfish/crawdads..etc.

It is a language difference. They are also called crawdads. There are over 50 species of them in the US alone ranging from about 2" to 5"

Well they are the same, just different names. I am from West Virginia, but have lived in Texas for 20yrs. I used to catch them back home and keep them in jars as pets but when I moved to Texas and found out that they ate them, I was amazed. I still haven't eaten them to this day. Still think of them as bugs or something. I prefer the name crawdads.

I just wanted to comment that "invisimann" really has this cut and paste thing down to a science. I mean, I really enjoy reading a book report on something that everyone else pretty much answered sufficiently with 1 or 2 sentences. He's a "real man of genius".
