I have a rental that has cat urine in the carpets. I am not sure where the urine is. How do I get rid of it?

tear the carpet and the padding up, have the bare floor beneath steam cleaned, then get new carpeting.

Use a black light to locate the source of the odor. Any product that has peroxide in it will help remove the odor. However, you probably should pull back the carpet, and padding, so that you can apply it to the subflooring as well. Once you have treated the subfloor, the padding, and the carpet, go over the entire room with a steam cleaner to help remove any residue left in the carpet. Be sure to check the walls, and baseboards with the black light, too. If it was a male cat, he might have sprayed. It took more than one treatment in our home, but it saved us having to replace the carpet. Hope it helps.

I have tried avery product on the market... totaling about 10,000 Heres what you have to do rip up every bit of carpet and padding Kiltz the floor then re carpet now mind you the smell may and probably will return if it does start replacing walls. Since you live in an apartment I suggest you move and the next apartment you live in turn the heat on high with all the water fawcets running on hot. close up the place then go back in if it doesnt smell move in.

Buy new carpet. My roommate had a cat in the house we lived in and it pissed all over the carpet. It stunk up the entire house even after we moved out. The landlord was pissed and had to replace all of the carpet and the smell still didnt entirely go away. Cost us about $1000 unforunately.

NATURES MIRACLE !!

- Febreeze only works for a day or so ... then it will start smelling again .... dont replace the carpet ... waist of money !!

:-) I live in an apartment (town house) ... with 5 cats and 1 puppy. I use this all the time with my puppy and with my cat when she was a baby kitten !!! Works wonders ..... seriously ... it's the best product you can buy.

Go to www.petco.com

Good luck

My kitty peed on our carpet before and we simply sprayed carpet cleaner on the spot to clean it out then sprayed some fabreeze on it.

If you don't know where the spot is, either spray carpet cleaner on the whole carpet and leave it for a good hour then fabreeze it or put some baking powder on it over night and vacuum it out the next day.

That should do the trick.

if theres a petsmart around you go in and ask for a product called natures miracle for cats
and they should also have a black light that will show the spots
and make sure you clean all around the spot not just where it was
the urine soaks into the carpet and the padding around it so it spreads out
thus meaning you have to clean about twice the area

Nature's Miracle works best. Sometime you have to use it a couple of times before it gets all the smell out. After two weeks it should be completley gone. That is what I use and at works!
You can buy it at a pet supply store.

There is a product sold by veterinarians and places like PetsMart that will take the odor out...it's important to do that because the cat or other cats will go to that area over and over if you don't use the right products
