I do not blame u for getting upset with people, some people do not know how 2 read the full question before they start with the critisisms. Sometimes rushing an animal2 the vet is not always needed especially when u state u already called the vet and they told u what 2 do. Some people do not understand that all vets do not require for a person 2 take the animal in unless absolutely necessary and will tell u what 2 do with a simple phone call. These are the vets that are not just out to make a buck. I have done call ins many of times and did not require an expensive vet visit.

Sit down behind her in a position so if she tries to move back she will only move into you. Then put two fingers from one hand into each corner of the back of her mouth. Do this to wedge and hold her mouth open (she may try to bite but if your fingers are back far enough she shouldn't be able to do much damage) also it might help to get your partner to hold her front paws down. Then with the other hand administer the drugs by dropping it into the back of her throat. You may need to hold her mouth shut so if it's a tablet she can't spit it out. I do this with my animals when ever I have to worm them works a treat. However if you continue to have trouble, I would take her straight to the vets and get them to do it. good Luck.

You're posting on a site, rather than rushing her to the vet?

How concerned are you?

Edit: She's not likely wanting to eat anything. She's probably freaking out because her face is swollen and she doesn't know what is going on. You're trying to put something in her mouth, and because she is scared, she's biting you. Take her to the vet. Get them to give her a shot. You're not likely to get her to swallow anything willingly.

My dog got tagged not long ago. His face swelled up twice its size. All I could do is watch him. He weighs 108 lbs and I think that's what saved him. Anyways by morning most of the swelling went down and he was OK. Some advice though quit trying to touch the dogs face.

She should be OK, and yes the benedryl will zonk her..My dog lost most of the hair on her face, but she was fine in about a week. she was bitten above the eye.

Since you live where snakes abound, it would be great to have your vet prescibe a bee sting kit to keep on hand.

even though your vet said to give her benedryl, you can't get her to take it,so see if you can get her to an emergency vet and they can give her something. Also I used to put my dogs medicine in a eye dropper or a dropper you use for giving meds to babies and squirt it in the side of his mouth because he spit it out and shook his head and covered me with it other wise,so squirting it in the side of his mouth always worked for me.

Mash it up, mix it in peanut-butter, spread the peanut-butter on a cracker, stick it in her mouth and push to the roof of her mouth, she won't have a choice but to swallow it.

Yes, I totally know what you mean. I HATE STUPID answers. When my puppy needs to take something, I put it in Gatoraid, LOL because hey, it helps restore electroyles as it goes. It's the same as Pedailyte so... that's what I do. Good luck. POOR DOGGY.
