The floor is her territory and she has to defend it. So she has to swat everthing to let it know who is boss of this territory!! She is finding out just what it is and if it fights. He would do the same to another cat if there was one. He was abused and knows he has to defend himself and family-you. You would be scared of things if someone messed with your tail, wrapped it in plastic wrap, let it rot, and then it got cut off! Just imagine and to top it off a 2nd person takes him to get it cut off! Trauma with the new person too! Just love him . Talk calmly to himpet him, and let him smell the toy or gro or saw and tell him it is ok . If you are ok, he will feel ok. My cat has no issues, except that she is jealous of the grandkids, and she is afraid of the vaccum and no one has ever scared her or hurt her with it.So all animals have their own little quirks, live with the ones that make them individual and train them if they may hurt someone.Cats are special people!

First off I commend you for taking her in. Poor thing had a rough start! There's really nothing wrong with her. She sounds a little high strung and in saying that she'll always be a little jumpy. I have several cats and have a couple like that. If there's a Kleenex on the floor it's approached with great caution until they know it isn't going to attack! Constant entertainment. Just please don't make it a point to antagonize her by deliberately spooking her. Maybe it would be in her best interest when you're doing something loud like remodeling to put her in a different quieter room.

FYI, she DOES own you. lol......that's the way of cats. They feel you are privileged to have them in your presence. Enjoy her antics and have fun. I was always told a person never chooses a cat.......a cat chooses the person. The bottom line is you'll never be lonely or bored. Cats are great entertainers and love you no matter what kind of day you've had. They like nothing better than to be in your lap while you watch a movie. (Mine anyway)

I adopted a cat from the shelter, and we think she was abused, because for some reason she doesn't like men. But we also think she must have been hit with things. Because, even if I have a new slipper on the floor, she will stand there and swat at it, and if you make a sudden noise while she is concentrating on this new thing, she jumps about 2 feet in the air. Your cat may just have been abused, especially finding plastic wrap on her tail, and I think they are afraid of new things because of being hurt with new things.

I have two cats and they hate anything that is different. Cats hate changs to their terratory. Also, most cats hate loud noises, such as tools, thunder storms, etc. Just be patient with her and try to make her feel as comfortable as you can until the remodeling is complete. Give her some time to get used to the changes. Kitties that have been abused or mistreated usually are a bit skiddish around other people, and things taht don't look familiar to them.

She is just shy and a scardy cat. I have one too, but he don't squat or anything like that. He is terrified of strangers, or noises he don't recognize and strange new things in the home too. My friend's cat is the same way, but more extreme. Nothing wrong with it, the cat only knows and wants you guys.

It sounds as if she was traumatized very bady and is very spooked by objects. I'm afraid only time will help your cat get over this. It may never will. The kitty sound very lucky to have you.

She has baggage. She was obviously abused, and she might not ever adjust to her new life. Some cats, however, mellow out with age. Good for you for keeping her! Please just think of her as a special needs pet and love her and take care of her.

Poor thing. She's obviously been abused. Love her and let the rest of her life be filled with lots of love and happiness.
