A flying car would consume considerably more fuel than a car. It has to move itself forward, plus provide the power to lift itself off the ground and maintain that lift for every second it is airborne.

There are people in cars who are so inattentive that I definitely would not want to have them buzzing around in the air as well.

If you were wealthy and could pass the test that any person pilotting a plane would have to pass you might one day get your wish but it will be expensive!!

A car, capable of flight and practical for use on the highway would most likely start at $300,000 That is a mighty expensive toy just to avoid some traffic. You could get by cheaper with a used helicopter that you land not too far from where you are going and call a cab, or keep a decent older used car there to drive.

I think it is only a matter of time before Moller works out the bugs in the Skycar but it will be a very limited production run at first and it is only expected to travel at 35mph on the ground for short distances. It only has three wheels.

The problem of making an affordable, flyable car are very complex and I don't see it happening in my lifetime.

Maybe you could consider one of those powered hang glider things that has just a big wing above it. They buzz over my house frequently.

Flying automobiles are actually an unwise decision. Lanes in the air would be impossible. There would be too many wrecks. Also, considering gas costs a a left testicle nowadays, think about how much gas it would take to propel you into the air and through it in a 2000+ pound car. I'm sad to say this but it does not look like we'll ever have flying cars as a prominent transportation system.

Hopefully never. Most people can not even drive on the ground. Imagine the chaos of a major flying car pile up accident in the sky. Those cars gotta come down some where. I don't want a big rig landing on my house.

advantageous, some have been geared up. yet they weren't very sensible. as a manner to fly properly, the motor vehicle must be geared up very, very gentle. yet to make the wheels stress the automobile on the line ability the two a clunky, heavy transmission equipment, or a separate engine to skill them. additionally, airplanes are comfortable to stability. maximum small planes many times have maximum of their load carried a techniques forward, and the tail is in simple terms empty area. they desire that long tail to get the elevator and rudders out a techniques adequate in the back of the airplane to grant them an prolonged lever with which to regulate the airplane. yet once you placed something heavy a techniques back, it may impression the steadiness of the airplane adequate to make it uncontrollable. All of this suggests that the passenger compartment would be particularly small in comparison to a huge-unfold automobile, subsequently impractical. once you integrate those barriers into one motor vehicle ability that whilst it would desire to do the two a sort of applications, it won't do the two of them properly. it quite works out greater effective to have a automobile for the line, and a airplane for the air.
