I have two chihuahuas and they are having babies around August 17th. I've looked everywhere online, but I can't find anything about whether or not the male dog can be around his babies. I know with some animals the male is agressive towards offspring. Any advice?

The female dog most probably won't want the male dog around, because she will be very protective of her pups. Usually male dogs get nervous with small pups and can be aggressive. I suggest that you let him meet his pups, but with your supervision. He might want to play with them, but they should be about 5 weeks old so they can run to mama if dad gets to aggressive.
Congratulations

Hi, I bred Sable Collies for years, that is all I know.
There was never even suggestion of trouble from the males.
The males just plain Did not care until it was time to wrestle!
or Occasionally as the pups got older eating in the right pecking order. Wild roots always prevail at feeding time.

Try keeping the male seperate from the female when she has the puppies until you know he won't be aggressive. I really depends on the breed of dog, I believe.

yeah I guess, I just had hamsters in my head and how they might eat their little ones but dogs are ok with being together as long as they aren't agressive breeds

I wouldn't recommend it. It's common for some animals to try to kill any competition that may arrive with the new litter.
