I don't know how open you are at the moment, but you need to avoid being *too* open. By all means be honest, but keep the majority of your innermost thoughts to yourself. If you talk to much, people lose respect for you. Good luck!

What is it you want to become more open ABOUT? Are you talking about being shy? If that's it, you need to challenge your attitude that you have exactly the same right to be yourself as any other person does. You have to love yourself, not in a selfish way, but just understanding that you have just as much intrinsic value as every other person.

So start out by consciously doing kind things for yourself, just as you would for someone else you cared about. Practicing love toward yourself will build your self-esteem.

Then, instead of succumbing to your fear when you are around people, think of ways to make them feel more comfortable and at ease. Smile at someone you meet walking down the street at least once a day. Broaden that into saying hello. Start a conversation while standing in line at the supermarket. If you can't think of anything to say, try something simple like, "It's really hot today, isn't it?"

Good luck.
