There are some really good oils you can put on your scalp from Sally Hansen or Proclaim. They have different quality oils to help with scalp drying. Massage just a dab into scalp with fingertips. Also, mind the shampoo you are using. Make sure you have a high quality shampoo and use just a little and rinse well. Massage your scalp before going to bed too, bringing blood to the surface.

I know this may sound Crazy but try to go to Cathy Howse's website for some free pointers about keeping your ends moisterized and not just roots, anyone with combination dry/oily or dry has to read this site's suggestions, most of them are commonsense and will have you shaking head, going "I know that"; if you have any amount of curl or curl pattern or dryness in your hair, her commonsense approach will really grow your hair out, and I can say I used her products for about 1 year and now my hair just grows, so I use a mix of different things (minus alcohol of course because I realize that drys out the hair and the scalp and too many products have ALCOHOL when that actually damages the hair in the conditioning stage.)

If you are starting to lose hair or have thinning in the dry spots, see a dermatologist ~ make sure it isn't a skin fungus or psoriasis, which sometimes can be mistaken as dandruff. For your dry hair, condition with Hair Mayonnaise, leave it in for a while. Oil your scalp and any split ends (if you have them) with DOO GRO Medicated Hair Vitalizer "Mega Thick" formula or Parnevu's Vita Gro. The latter, VitaGro relieves dandruff & repairs split ends. Oh, don't overprocess your hair w/relaxers and colors... will only dry it out more. Good luck.

there are a lot of natural treatments u can use, for example; when i was little i used to have dry hair but my mom would every so often (about twice a month) rub in mayo or strwaberries(mashed up into a sauce) into my hiar. then i would put on a shower cap and leave it in for 30 min. u can take a shower about 30 min after that. nowadays i have really shiny hair. i also hair avocado works good to. another goodtip is that b4 u get out of the shower u rinse ur hair with really cold water, this helps ur follicules lock in that shine!

First, African americans need to oil their scalp. You know..part your hair and dab some oil along the part. For healthier hair take vitamins for healthy hair and nails available at GNC. Also, make sure your stylist deep conditons your hair and get a regular trim.

From a professional: you need to build the moisture... do this by using using a moisturing shampoo and conditioner. I recommend Nexxuss Therapee shampoo and Humectress conditioner. Also try hotoil treatments(should be done on dry hair) Also drink plenty of WATER.

ya know I am a white girl but I used olive oil (extra virgin) cause I burned the crap out of my hair by using a black hair care product ( I know how stupid, but ya live and learn) but my hair was soooo dry it felt just like straw so I soaked my head over night in the olive oil then washed in the morning didn't use conditioner then repeated the next night and it helped tremendously
