I've NEVER heard of a bona fide yoga instructor referring to themselves as god - it goes against all Eastern belief systems to do so - and I defy you to submit proof of this!
As far as I can see, what you've written above is slanderous propaganda. You should be ashamed of yourself for presenting this libelous drivel as truth.
If you are referring to one-person cults, then say so - cults do not follow any true form of eastern religion, but run piggy-back on the mystery and romanticism of the east. Buddhists and Hindus do not condone cults, they do not encourage breaking family ties. What they do encourage is healing the soul by way of healing the body.
Get your facts straight and stop spreading unnecessary panic!

Well, a couple of issues. First off, there's a line of thinking that says we're ALL God - that God is made up of all of us, and all spiritual beings in the universe. But if they're claiming to be God when others are not God, that's very messed up.
There's also a line of thinking that says organized religion is tricky at best, because most religions tell people to accept what they're being told on faith, rather than searching for the truth in their own hearts. Personally, I think it's important to be the seeker. This may include going to church, and it may not.
Yoga - I've never heard of a yoga practitioner who tells people to stay away from church or family. That sounds cultish. Yoga is a very spiritual path, which most people don't realize, but any individual who is developing some kind of personality cult (saying "just believe what I tell you, don't ask questions, and everyone else is wrong") - whether it's a Yoga instructor, Jerry Falwell, or the Pope, is suspect, in my opinion.

It is not unusual for a yogi or anyone who meditates to actually get in touch with God. In essence it is the purest intention of meditation to achieve that objectively. If one reaches that objective it is an overwhelming sensation, to put it mildly, it can totally overtake your being.
The reality however is such that God is indivisible. So anyone who returns to their mere physical state may have experienced a direct connection with God and perhaps still experience a direct line towards, but simply isn´t God. There is a piece of God in everyone which can connect with God but doesn´t make one God. It would be as if the part of the Earth that is bathing in sunlight would claim to be the sun, while not being much further from the sun than the other side that is in darkness. Even if in fact the Earth is made out of matter that initially made it out of the sun.
People just love to be deceived.

People need something to believe in. Many people are afraid to find out answers for themselves so they turn to people who take advantage of them. Religion does the same thing. Look at the Pat Robertsons and the Jerry Falwells of the world.
I laugh at the Yoga in America. Many feel they are learning yoga when all they are learning is some fancy exercises. On top of that they have to buy stuff like yoga mats, yoga weights, yoga balls, LOL!!! What a rip-off!!!! These idiots fall for it because they think they are learning something exotic. Even the meditation is a farce. The whole Western Yoga industry is a farce. It is a bunch of people making money of suckers.

You are absolutely right dude. At best these people can be called teachers or trainers but not 'God' in any way. Its the mystique and the aura associated by occult arts that encourages them to proclaim themselves as God. You should kick thier A$$es if you find such godmen

There is nothing wrong with those persons, they are in business and you are the customer who willingly spend your money into this rubbish. If there have not been so many people without self confidence they should not be in business. In someway you do support them, don't you?

I never knew that they considered them selves to be God. I think this is very wrong if it is true. May God for give these people.
