I want the pictures to play on a digital projector after they are taken and play continuously during our event.
It would be in a sense a digital photo booth.

I also want the pictures to play while other ones are being taken and then when the new one is taken it will automatically add to the show....

You need a wireless digital camera in order to continually add pictures to your slide show as you take them. I have a Nikon Coolpix P2 camera that will do that. Nikon has several models that work that way. Mine is a 5 megapixel, but they also make an 8MP. I send the photos to my laptop in a continuous slideshow - it's a great feature! It works with the software that comes with the camera called Picture Project.

powerpoint is probably the easiest. just arrange you photos and play the slide show in a loop. you can even add music. if you have a mac you can create a slide show in imovie and export it as a quicktime movie. ms moviemaker might have a similar function.
