There is all kinds of white crap on my scalp, like dandruff...except it sometimes has brown scabs if I pick it or white caked up stuff if I don't. What could this be? When I pick it, it just gets worse. Dandruff shampoo does not help, but t-gel shampoo does. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sounds like a build up of sebum or seborrhea. I found that using a product called Wildroot has help my scalp immensly. You get it at walgreens in the mens' hair care area but women can use it too. It was originally designed for use in the 1950's for slicked back hair styles. the key ingredients are mineral oil and lanolin. Once a week, i wet down my hair then work in a generous amount of Wildroot. I do rub it intomy scalp too. I comb it into a slicked back style and leave it in all day or over night. Then wash it out with two latherings. My scalp has never felt better, and the buildup and sores and scabbing are gone. Its worth a try, I think you will find it helps alot.

Get checked for scalp psoriasis. Go to your doctor and most likely he/she will refer you to a dermatologist who can help. I've heard they prescribe some tar shampoo that works wonders.....Good luck!

Keep using T-gel. They do make store brands, I buy the meijer one...it works just as good, but is much cheaper. Also, if you blow dry your hair, stop. Blowdrying can dry your scalp.

If this doesn't help, see a doctor.

seek a dermatologist. You might need a medicated shampoo perscribed by a doctor.
