Use a rubber band. Nothing screams novice like those arm band holders.

For some reason I thought The 3C's had those although they weren't on their website. Here's some links to what I found on the net although none of these look like the ones I've seen. I just rip the ends of my armbands and use a larger rubber band than they normally give us.
