Tie him up both in and out of the house. After six months, he won't consider running away.

keep them in a fenced in yard or on a leash. My chihuahua will run away too. And a deer chihuahua is a type of chihuahua, it's actually a deer head and there is an apple head chihuahua. It's just a difference in the shape of their heads.

I have two chihuahuas and I know that they love me to pieces, but unfortunately they don't have the sense to stay out of the street. They are just both really curious and adventurous and I don't think it occurs to them that they might get lost or picked up. (Although it's happened twice now, though I miraculously got them back.) Some breeds, especially tiny little guys, need to stay inside, on a leash or in a fenced yard. That is the case with my little buddies and we still all have a great time. So anyway, maybe you can train your dog, but better safe than sorry.

I dont reccomend a shock collar for tiny dogs !! I was at Pet co. the other day and they had an invisable fence and collar for dogs ... it doesnt send a shock to the dog just a loud noise only the pup can hear. I'm considering getting one for my Australian Sheperd. Other then that ... all i can say is keep him/her on a leash or get a post that sticks in the ground ... and a long leash for him/her to run around in the yard. Good luck !! :)

You have to train them or get them to really like you ! There are dogs that just want to leave to find their family (MOM/DAD) pet family ! If your dog doesn't know their own name than maybe you need to take your dog to obedience training ! My dog went to obedience training and now follows me without a leash ! It takes time to train a dog so don't feel as in you will accomplish it one day because you won't ! It takes time to train a dog ! Some dogs never listen no matter what you do !!!!!!

You don't think a shock collar is cruel, do you? How cruel is letting your dog be exposed to traffic in the street or being picked up by the pound?
