I am insured by worthless Allstate and also have uninsured motorist coverage as required by state law. I was not able to get the hit and run drivers license number because he quickly fled the scene. When I called Allstate about my accident they told me I would only have to pay a $100.00 dollar deductable even after I told them I didn't get any info on the hit and run driver. Then when I went to the local Allstate claims office I got a totally diffrent story.
The claims guy says if you dont know who the other driver is you have to pay a $500.00 deductable.

Same thing happened to me about 4 years ago. I was with State Farm at the time. I had a police report and had to only pay $250 deductible since it was a hit and run and I had a police report. Otherwise, I would've had to have paid $500. It wasn't right, but there wasn't anything I could do. Oh, and I didn't get any info on the car either, other than it was a red truck. I also has uninsured motorists.

Sounds like you need to check with your state's dept. that regulates insurance companies. It seems to me that if you have uninsured motorist's coverage you should be OK.
Perhaps your state's insurance commissioner can help you out with this one. Remember, insurance companies are nothing more than decriminalized organized crime. They will try anything to avoid paying on a claim unless you call their bluff. Good luck!

You are stuck with any loop hole that they've stuck in your policy. And insurance companies are amazingly good at it too.

Unless you can find the driver to pay up, you'll be the one shelling out the $$ for the repairs...

Yup.....You pay! You bought that policy, that's what you get! Without anything on the other driver, there is nobody to 'charge' the accident against.Just be glad you had insurance!

Unfortunatly you do have to pay...sucks don't it. I did have a policy that waved the deductible in these cases if you got the license plate of the offender. too bad they stopped doing business in my state.

No you shouldn't have to pay anything but dealing with the good hands people you will. You could hire a shyster lawyer but that will only cost you more that you could hope to collect.
