I was watching a rally with my dad on tv where Bill Clinton was saying Ideas of how to stop AIDS. So my dad looks over at me and says, "So it must be really scary, being down there at college, with a boyfreind and all, and not knowing who has AIDS. Back in my day, we didn't have to worry about that." And I never told him that we have sex. So could he just be trying to find out if we do? Or does he really support us having sex?

It's not that he supports it, but if you are in college and have a boyfriend then, unless you are one that believes in waiting until marriage, you are having sex. Dad knows this and realizes that you are not his little girl anymore. Just sounds like he has accepted it to me.

He is doing two things. Subconsciously, he is telling you that if you have sex, you should be using a condom. - prevent aids, oh and by the way, pregnancy. In another way he is asking you if you are having sex with your boyfriend. He won't come right out and ask it, for he still thinks of you as his "little girl". He doesn't realize that you are almost an adult now.

Sounds more like he was trying to scare you away from sex. Not likely your parents will ever "support" you having pre-marital sex. He probably just wanted to make sure you were aware that AIDS is a real disease and that you protect yourself.

It could be that he just wants to try to drive home the point that if you are having sex with ANYONE you should be using a condom because he doesn't want you to end up with AIDS or be HIV positive.

No, thats not what he meant and if you had to ask that question i'm afraid you are not mature enough to be having sex. He's letting you know his opinion and it sounds as if he's opening the line of communication, if there ever was something you wanted to talk about.

I think that he could be hinting around and maybe getting you to speak up, but it could be that he is really concerned and knows that you will eventually have sex, and you wont always be his little girl! But just be careful whatever you do, and remember that your dad wants you to be safe whatever and wherever you go ;)

btw....good luck in school!

as a father myself he is saying to you in his way that he has raised you and he trust you and you are human, but it is a very dangerous world out there.i have a question for you, why does your generation put the cart before the horse? once you have sex what else is there and by the way when you sleep with someone you have just slept with everyone that they have slept with and please do not tell him your personal life. he was talking to you as a adult not oking anything. in his and my day it was very much different;research it:

He is probably trying to find out whether yall are having sex but he is also probably trying to tell you to be careful in his own little way.

I think that he ment what HE MENT. He problably knowes that with a girl at your age, is normal to talk about that and its normal for you to have sex(I hope, I dont know how old you are) but if it was me, i would thought taht hes aware of my age and of my maturity.
