It's a morning ceremony followed by a luncheon and then a dinner reception in the evening. Would a black evening type dress be appropriate for the evening reception?

The dress I'd like to wear is not all black. It has flowers on it with gold lace.

I am an Indian myself and I have seen what other people have answered.. they have given pretty good advice... Dont wear all-black or all-white, certainly not. I dont mean that people will condemn u or something - it is just that bright colours are more the style of Indian weddings. Or here's an alternative if u feel that u like only that black dress you mentioned - wear conspicuous and if possible, colourful jewellery and other accessories with that black dress... u'll then surely fit in...

well u can but indian weddings are like really lavish and really big affairs avoid wearing black
women do wear black but its like heavily embrodied with some bright color or sumthig

wear any other color except fpr white (which is funeral color)
u can wear any other color
wear red pink orange really bright colors coz weddings r really auspicious occasions

u cld try and wear a light pink dress which wld go grt for the morning luncheon and wld work for the nite too just team it up with a jacket or sum thing

well if u have nuthin to wear then u cld wear the black dress but wear a silver belt or somthing too

The only color i'd avoid is white...
a black, cocktail type dress sounds perfectly appropriate for the evening...

Don't wear pure white and pure black if you r women,
and a combination of white shirt and black trousers if u r man.

Also don't wear same dress as bride or groom is wearing otherwise they go mad..

Please do not wear any dress that is black in colour, as black is inauspicious for an Indian wedding. Hope I am clear.
