Would I take my kids to Mortons in Vienna, VA or to Blackies in DC...no...

Applebees...yes...

I went to this dive one morning...called Yorkshire in Manassas, VA...great food, just looks horrible...anyway, think home cooked Dennys......I took my kids for breakfast....perfectly kid legit...right???

My kids were chatting away with my husband and I and got excited because they had Belgian Waffles....not out of their chair excited, just talking to mom and dad real loud excited....right around the time I could tell them to lower it....this woman at the next table is like...."so much for my meal out....why do people have to bring children out to eat in public places....

This woman was sitting closest to my oldest child.... I told him to switch seats with me immediately... so I could be closest to her...

I swear, if she would have opened her mouth one more time, I would have landed in jail that day.

This was a mom & pops place..... I had every right to have my kids there.

Some people are annoyed by children no matter what they do. I think it is perfectly okay to take children to a middle of the road place, especially for breakfast. how else are they supposed to learn? If you can't take them to Denny's, how are they supposed to learn how to eat out at fancier places?

Family restaurants are just that. I don't have children, so I'll admit I don't like it when I'm at a restaurant, and a child starts shrieking really loud, or throwing things, or jumping up on their seat and grabbing my hair (yes, I had this happen) and the parent doesn't do something to correct that. If the kids are just talking loud and excited in a place like Denny's, sounds fine, as long as they don't cross the line into screaming. It's a family restaurant after all, and kids have to learn to eat in restaurants at some point. I actually like seeing happy kids interacting in positive ways with their family. It always makes me smile.

Applebees - In my area, that's a little nicer, so I'd wait until they're at least 8 or so, depending how well-behaved they are. Friendly's is probably a better place for younger kids.

I have three children, two, three, and four. Kids will be kids, you can't help that, nor can they. Don't you think they have every right to be apart of things like enjoying the pleasures of being able to go out of the house, having many experiences. Including inconsiderate people. Thats the cold hard truth about life, People can be ruthless. Hey, that lady or who ever made that comment, maybe they forget that once upon a time they were young. We all were. You should have put that lady in her place.

I don't think I could have kept my mouth shut. Nothing burns me more than someone implying my kids have no manners. Kids are going to kids and people just need to get over it. I will take my kids where ever I want to and if someone doesn't like it, then thats their problem. I bet when they were kids, they acted the same way.

** What is the difference in loud kids and a drunk, I have been several places, where there is always one in the bunch that has had to much to drink and they are being totally obnxious, but no one ever says anything about them, but the ones with kids that are being loud, always have something said to them**

I don't have young children but I expect children to be in restaurants for breakfast, lunch, and for early evening Dinner. She must be an awfully sad person not to enjoy children being happy and excited. I might have been tempted to say 'well then why did you come to a family style restaurant?' but I think I would have just pondered what a lonely life she must lead when she chooses to be unkind. By the way... The Lady who said she must be 'barren & bitter'. Not all of us are lucky enough to have children of our own but that doesn't make childless women unable to love, enjoy and appreciate other people's children. I do! My Step daughters are my darlings.

People are stupid!!! So what, are all parents supposed to stay at home until the kids are old enough to "act proper"? I don't think so!!! We take our 3 1/2 year old son almost everywhere we eat. He goes to Outback, Chili's, Olive Garden, and so on. If children weren't supposed to go to these restraunts, please tell me why they have high chairs and booster seats in these restraunts!!! The only time he doesn't come out with us is when he is visiting grandma! So as long as your kids are your kids they have every right to eat where they want to. If the people around you don't like it, they can move!!! I would have told the "nice lady" off!

If she had said that with me sitting there...she would still be trying to get belgian waffles out of her a$$!! I have 7 kids...and I will take my kids out to eat wherever...and whenever I want. My kids and I have just as much right to be there as miss "I cant keep my mouth shut" does! Now...if you were letting the kids run all over the place...then yeah..she has every right to be p!ssy. But it sounds like they were being normal kids...and there is nothing wrong with that!!! People like that should just keep their little snide comments to themselves...because NOBODY wants to hear it!!

Hmmmmmmmm........you might have used this instance to teach your children then and there, that there are people in this world that do not like children, no matter how quiet or how loud they are.
If your children were too loud, they would have quieted down.
If the woman thought she had gotten away with something she would have "thought again!"

Well I feel like no matter where people decide to take their kids to, they should know how to use their inside voices. If they knew how to do that, then this wouldn't be an issue. I understand kids are kids, but they should also have manners. Some kids are just outrageous and some are just kids. The problem is, the parents of the outrageous kids, think their kids are just being kids and those of us who don't have kids don't want to tolerate all that. So it just depends on how loud and crazy things get.

Obviously this woman has never had children or she has forgotten what it was like to have children. I quite agree with you. I would be a little miffed if she would have said it within my ear shot. Let it roll off your back like water on a duck. She's not worth you getting all worked up over.
